While on a weekend paddle at Fort De Soto, this Double crested Cormorant quickly became a favorite subject of mine. This particular Cormorant came within just feet of my kayak as I paddled along one of the back bays. This cormorant followed me around and would hide underneath my kayak before ambushing several pinfish. Not only are these birds excellent fishers, but they are remarkably stunning with their breeding plumage. Their eyes turn into one of the most beautiful blues you have ever seen. Maybe I like these guys so much because they have the same colors as my favorite college football team; the Florida Gators.
