While most were asleep, I was awake to hear the distinct sound of thunder in the distance. I quickly checked the radar and saw a thunderstorm forming about 8 miles offshore of Venice. I grabbed my camera gear and headed down to the jetty in hopes of capturing some bolts as the storm moved north. It had been awhile since I've been to the jetty late at night, and much to my surprise there were only a few people around. I set up my camera gear and began firing off some long exposure shots of the storm. I captured a few nice bolts, but this composition was my favorite of the night.
