While returning back to Canyon Village from the North Rim Trail, we decided to take the longer of the two ways back. We had seen a few bison in the area a few hours earlier and wanted to see if they were still around. Sure enough, this Bison was up on the hill grazing. I positioned myself near some sturdy trees as the Bison began working their way down the hill. I won't lie, I was a little nervous being about 40 yards away from this giant creature. Fortunately for me, this Bison was more focused on eating and didn't seem to mind me being there. Thanks to this Bison, I captured my favorite photo of the trip!
